“Trombone master Doug Beavers is a rising force in Latin Jazz who’s a triple threat as a soloist, arranger and bandleader.  Beavers earned a spot in jazz history when he played a crucial role in Eddie Palmieri’s Grammy-winning revival of his trombone-powered La Perfecta ensemble.  With Titanes del Trombón, Beavers has assembled an all-star band to deliver take-no-prisoners salsa dura.”

New Release Alert: Lary Barilleau & The Latin Jazz Collective "Carmen's Mambo"

From 2008 to 2010, I had the distinct pleasure of working with Lary Barilleau on his new release on Origin/OA2 Records, "Carmen's Mambo".  What I really loved about Mr. Barilleau's compositions were how melodic they were - everything was extremely singable and very listenable.  This collaboration features Mr. Barilleau's compositions arranged and orchestrated by myself.  Performing on the recording are such luminaries as Pete Escovedo, Joe Santiago, Julian Priester and Bay Area trumpet phenom Mike Olmos.  Here's the official blurb - be sure to check out the record today!

"The Latin Jazz Collective is a new project conceived by Lary Barilleau, a Seattle based percussionist, composer and award winning educator. Carmen's Mambo features the original music of Grammy nominated musician Lary Barilleau, Grammy winning arranger and trombonist Doug Beavers and multi-instrumentalist Jay Thomas. The unique mixture of jazz melodies and harmonies along with Afro-Caribbean rhythms reflects the classic sound of Latin jazz. The CD was recorded over a 2 year span in San Francisco, New York and Seattle. All arrangements and orchestration by Doug Beavers."
